Think Thin
Can Thinking about being thin lead
to weight loss?
Well Scientists at Harvard have come to some pretty startling
conclusions about the body-mind connection, and now through scientific
study believe that just thinking about being thin can actually give you
results. Think about it for a second. Has anyone ever told you to think
positive thoughts? Probably, but I bet you didn’t realize
just how good the advice really was!
Here’s the study the Harvard scientist made.
84 hotel cleaners were involved in this study, and all of their jobs
involved some kind of physical activity. Half the group lost an average of
2 pounds, andthey lowered their blood pressure by around 10% while the
others had no noticeable changes in weight or blood pressure.
Why did half of the hotel cleaners lower their blood pressure
and lose weight?
The answer is very surprising. The only thing one group did
differently than the other, is the group that lost weight had been coached
to believe that their job burned calories, and because of this made them
healthier. Because they were taught, and actually believed that their job
helped them become healthier, they actually lost weight and lowered their
blood pressure without doing ANYTHING DIFFERENT AT
ALL!
One of the lead researches, Ellen Langer, said that, “The changes were a
function of the change in mindset alone.” The research team also said
that,”If you put your mind in a healthy place, you can have dramatic
physiological consequences” This means that what you think about can
actually produce physical changes in the body! All you have to do is think
the right thoughts. These conclusions are amazing!
What this means for you is, if you just imagine yourself burning calories
and losing fat during your everyday life, you can actually lose weight!
When you combine positive thinking with a healthy diet and exercise, you
WILL achieve better results. Remember to think and believe that
everything you are doing is helping your body lose weight, and the
weight WILL come off.
